My Signature Fluffy Twist-Out: Step-by-Step

A twist-out has become my signature for a reason! It’s soft, versatile, and feels like me every single time.

Step 1: Clean, Moisturized Hair

I always start on freshly washed and deep conditioned hair. Moisture is the foundation of any good twist-out so you want to be sure not to skip this step.

Step 2: Product Application

I work in sections by applying leave-in first, followed by a cream for moisture or a mousse and a light oil to seal the ends of my hair.

Step 3: Twisting Technique

Medium-sized twists give me the perfect balance of definition and volume. I twist firmly but not tight.

Step 4: Drying Is Key

I let my twists fully dry. Rushing this step leads to frizz. My twists are usually let in for 3-5 days marinating before I take them down for my twist-out.

Step 5: Fluff, Don’t Fight

When I take them down, I separate gently, stretch with my fingers only see technique here and fluff at the roots only. The goal is movement, not perfection.

This style gives me confidence every time and it works for both everyday life and special moments.
