Getting Dressed for the Office When You’re Petite

Office style can feel tricky when you’re petite. Too long, too boxy, too overwhelming. But over time, I’ve learned how to make workwear work for me and not against me. Finding pieces you feel confident in and looks good on your body type is the key here.

Knowing My Go-To Silhouettes:

High-waisted pants, cropped or tailored jackets, and ankle length pants are staples for me and my office wardrobe. They define my shape without swallowing my frame.

Tailoring vs. Styling:

I don’t tailor everything, but I style intentionally. Rolling sleeves, belting blazers, choosing shoes that elongate my legs, and adding accessories makes a big difference in your outfit. Also, shopping at places that carry petite sizes will become your best friend, especially if you like the fit and the items they offer. My current favorites are Banana Republic and J. Crew.

Shoes Matter More Than You Think:

Pointed-toe flats, ankle boots, oxfords, and low heels balance proportions and elevate even simplist office outfits.

Adding Personality:

Workwear doesn’t have to be boring. A bold bag, statement earrings or neckace, an unexpected color, or printed/textture blazer keeps my outfits feeling like me.

Final Thoughts

Getting dressed for work is about confidence, not conformity. Find your go-to styling pieces you love and make them work for the office. It will be easier getting dressed and finding your office “uniform”.
